In July of 2014, Kristin Christ saw a need in her community for more political involvement. She reached out to many members in the community to begin discussions on how to get Montgomery County citizens more active and educated in the political process. The ladies who began working toward this goal were: Kristi Baker, Deborah Rose Miller, Linda Stuckey, Susan Johnson, Tina Larson, & Deanne Riley. Together these women met for several months and discussed different strategies but the group would not take off for another year.
In the end of June 2015, with the guidance of MCRP Treasurer, Landon Estay, and Chairman, Dr. Wally Wilkerson, Kristin proposed forming a women’s club under the Texas Federation of Republican Women. The group decided to meet with Pearl Maggio, District Director of the TFRW, to learn more. After this meeting, there was unanimous agreement that forming a women’s club was a good idea and they created the Magnolia Area Republican Women. The first meeting was June 29th, 2015 at Hickory Corral Restaurant in Magnolia, TX.
